About Nick Askew.

Nick Askew works at the intersection of automotive retail, software architecture, and applied artificial intelligence. As founder and CEO of Space Auto and founder of Askew AI, his work spans dealership technology and AI-first software development. His approach is grounded in a practical question: how can technology make the work people already do simpler and more connected?

Before building software companies, Askew worked in automotive retail. In a 2024 interview with ASOTU’s Auto Collabs, he described a path from playing in a band to selling cars, followed by work in finance and insurance, marketing, and dealership operations. That experience exposed him to the disconnected systems used to complete a car sale, and informed his decision to build software for the industry.

Space Auto brings dealership websites, digital retailing, and customer relationship management into a unified platform. Askew has described the company’s aim as connecting what customers and dealers need to transact, rather than adding more disconnected tools. His account of working in retail places the customer experience alongside the day-to-day realities of the people using dealership software.

His public discussions of AI emphasize practical applications, experimentation, and the quality of the underlying data. In subsequent Auto Collabs appearances, he discussed breaking work into specific tasks for AI agents, understanding software architecture, and helping dealers take a more active role in their data strategy. He has also explored how background agents could support operations without making a chatbot the center of every interaction.

At Askew AI, his work extends into AI-first architecture and digital product development. The company’s leadership directory identifies him as CEO and Software Engineer. Alongside his technical work, Askew continues to discuss creativity and the discipline of building: in an April 2025 interview, he reflected on recording a song each day for a month and the lessons that commitment offered for running a startup.

Beyond software, Askew is an owner and partner in Eden Body Art Studios, a premium tattoo studio brand based in Dallas, Texas. In that role he focuses on the company’s growth and expansion, including new studio development and the technology infrastructure supporting its operations. It reflects a broader through-line in his work: building and scaling companies across industries, not only in automotive and AI.

Creator

InertiaPhysics

An experimental browser-based synthesizer created by Nick Askew, exploring computation as a physical medium for sound synthesis. Rather than emulating analog circuitry, the engine draws on concepts including stochastic oscillator drift, parameter inertia, nonlinear feedback, and signal routing to create emergent sonic behavior. It reflects a personal thesis about computation, instability, and synthesis, with the technical argument made in full by its documentation.

Connecting the dealership experience

Askew’s move from dealership operations to Space Auto centered on a problem he had experienced firsthand: too many disconnected tools. In his 2024 Auto Collabs interview, he described bringing the customer’s buying journey and the dealer’s working tools together, with connected data as the foundation for applying AI.

Putting AI to practical work

In a July 2025 Auto Collabs appearance, Askew discussed experiments with AI systems that generate software and coordinate business tasks. His later conversation on dealership technology explored CRM workflows, API standards, and background agents—placing software architecture and data integration at the center of practical AI adoption.
